Underground 1

How would you describe the structure of the book to someone who might be interested in reading it?

Throughout the book, we will see the same events told from different points-of-view (for instance, the handkerchief that Kiyoka Izumi gives to the driver of the van to wave out the window). It would have been easy enough to edit out these repetitions. Why did Murakami leave them in?

1. The structure of the book is simple as it starts with an introduction of the interviewed person of their family, jobs, and hobbies. Then it goes into a record of the events of the incident and how much they were affected later on. I would say it's very straightforward and readable but I'm lost on names and places.

2. I figured Murakami wanted to convey a sense of time passing and people who were involved and how their interactions changed the situation. It's interesting to see that there is a repetition that the single event is actually beyond the experiences of a single person.
