I admit I was confused since there are so many names I didn't remember who Jack was until the writer mentioned it later. I thought it was strange to have a collection of the photos in the first place regardless if he let the girls look at anything in the barn. I got a sense that no one really cared about the kids and how Marion just did anything she wanted w/o parental supervision. I have to say her entire family was neglectful and strange even though the main character's own family was not mentioned at all.
