Response to "William Wei"
During William's current state of mind, being stuck in the same everyday unusual life cycle he puts himself in, he uses women as a coping mechanism, because he comes to terms with himself that he is a loner and unable to physically be around people, maybe because he has gone through traumatic situations as a child. As the story progresses, we learn that William is more than just desperate for finding affection from just about anyone. When he comes across this woman named Koko, it seems as if he indefinitely met his match by someone knocking sense into him for him to come back to reality. The symbolism that I noticed is that this was probably a wake up call for him to make him realize that women are not to be used as a second option for pleasure or to fill a void, anytime at all. She was one to introduce drugs to him, in which he was willing to take. The bad trip that he had was supposedly something that would change his life, but what exactly did it change within himself as an individual? Koko was someone who lied about the things she told him, realizing how vulnerable and naive of a man he was. Not only because she wanted to experience some fun and was a sociopath, but to give him an idea that she is not one to be reckoned with. So, Koko took this to her advance and did what she had to do, and left William by himself, hopefully teaching him a lesson as an individual who is unable to grow up. The "William Wei" story leaves me uncertain as to how William will change, either for better or for worse. The ending is questionable and unpredictable.

This is a good response, Shiann, but I'm not sure what you mean by symbolism. Usually we use that term to mean that something stands for or suggests something else. So we might argue that William eats his dinner like a dog b/c he thinks of himself as a lower form of life or as a "dog" to women. Or that he sleeps on an army cot b/c he is in a temporary situation or is at war w/ his urges or something like that.
