The Aum Cult

I found it funny how a majority of the Aum cult members decided to not renounce the cult being that they were responsible for the gas attacks.  Also, from the interview read in class I couldn't believe that the cult member said that if it was a proven fact that the people killed would reach Nirvana and that he would be closer to reaching enlightenment that his answer would be a simple yes with no second thought.  Who is he to dictate the lives of others.  I found that despicable.  Also, I found it ironic that an intellectual would follow a cult blindly as he did since he said that he isn't one to believe in things that can't be proven true even though many of the greatest aspects of life are immeasurable.  Some of those aspects include, but are not limited to, love and happiness.  Another thing I found ironic that an intellectual doesn't care for reading books cause in my eyes a common stereotype of an intellectual is someone who loves to read many different books to understand different outlooks on life.
