Know Your Worth

This my piece for the group critique. I tried to post it on blackboard, but it didn't post so, I'm posting it on here.

This is a little something that I put together on the last day of class. It’s a skit taking place with two best friends talking on the phone. I hope you enjoy!

Sarah: So. What do you think about about Jason?
Stacy: I don’t really like him. Why?
Sarah: But you know that he’s going to be my new boo right?
Stacy: He’s a player. I don’t think you should go out with him Sarah. He has like 3 girls at a time.
Sarah: But he’s so fiiiiiiiine!
Stacy: So what! You better know your worth girl. He’s a dog! What if he gives you a STD? Then what?
Sarah: But, we were supposed to go to the movies this weekend though. What should I do?
Stacy: You do what you want. But I wouldn’t , if I were you.
Sarah: Wait! He’s calling me! He’s on the other line right now!
Stacy: Block him!
Sarah: Block and delete!
Stacy: That’s right! Boy bye!
Sarah: You’re right! I deserve better than that.
Stacy: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss! Now you got it! Like I said before, know your worth!
Sarah: Yes girl! I’m so glad that I have a good friend like you, to give me such good advice.
Stacy: I won’t steer you wrong. You don't need him.
Sarah: I know! Thanks for being there for me.
Stacy: No problem! Alright girl. I'm about to go to take a nap. I'll talk to later.
Sarah: Ok. Later.

Author's Note: This skit is about about two best friends who are in their early 20's. Sarah likes a guy who's a player. He's really handsome but he doesn't treat ladies right with the respect. However, she's still attracted to him. Her friend Stacy tries to open up her eyes to let her know she deserves better. This happens to a lot a ladies They get caught up in guys looks, and becomes blind to love.

  1. This is SO releatable! Thank you for sharing this. I liked how you added the moment of epiphany when Sarah actually listened to her best friend Stacy and realized that the guy she's attracted to is no good for her. But however, maybe you could've added a small backstory to why Stacy thinks that this guy that Sarah is into is no good for her? Without there being a backstory for Sarah's point of view on that unnamed character, then the audience won't exactly know the type of love interest Sarah is associating herself with. Just a suggestion. Overall, I like the emphasis and the theme within the dialogue you put in between the characters. Good job.

  2. I like this conversation since most of the time one lets oneself be carried away by appearance and not by feelings, but it is bad since the most important thing is feelings. Sometimes beautiful people are the ones who cheat the most on their backs. For me personally the most important thing is the person's feelings. True friends most of the time will give you good advice. Just as in this conversation I liked how her friend advised Sarah that Jason wasn´t a good person for her. He liked being with many women. I wish you had added a little more about how Stacy met Jason and what led her to tell Sarah that this boy wasn´t good for her. Overall, you did a great job.
