God pt 2

Like most people, hearing a story titled "God" makes you believe it has something to do with religion. I was expecting a religious story, or a story questioning God's existence. When I read the first sentence, " We called her God because she wrote a poem about how Caleb Newton prematurely ejaculated..." My mind instantly changed. I instantly thought it was about a woman who was good in bed, thats why they called her "God". It fed even more into my assumption knowing that she had caused someones premature ejaculation.

  1. I think I was also expecting a story questioning the existence of God or maybe some kind of philosophical exploration. Only for a moment though! A lot of the stories we've been reading from this book seemed so off the wall. Unlike anything I've ever read.

  2. I agree! The stories we have been reading have been soooo different from anything else I've ever read, which makes me WANT to read them. As sexual and silly as they are, its so fascinating to read these! Do you feel the same? or does it make it less interesting for you?

  4. I wonder why these stories seem so different to you guys. Are they really that risque? Or is it that you've been assigned "literature" in your classes, writings from the 19th century or early 20th? Things have definitely changed in the last hundred years regarding what is acceptable to write about or not.
