Underground 2

Underground 2

I did get effected by the Underground book in some way, because it makes me stop and think. What if I'm by myself on the riding on the train, and a major crash or something when none of my family or friends are around? What would I do in case of an emergency? It would make me go into a shock. However, it didn't effect me to the point that it makes me scared to make my daily commute on public transportation. You can't be afraid everyday of what can happen but you can be aware. Especially if the subway train is your main source of transportation, because then you would remain stuck.

Subways

c) How is this book affecting the way you ride public transportation?

I feel like I want to say I want to take less public transportation but I don't really have any options other than the MTA. Also, I don't own a car and sometimes I have to commute to different parts of the city so it goes. I think it's just the general idea that you could be attacked in any location regardless of how "safe" a country would be at the time. Overall, I haven't changed my commute or anything in particular after reading the book.

Historical Event

b) Describe one historical event that you personally remember.

I guess the one major historical event would be the blackout in 2003 in NYC and I remember listening to the radio and news back then. There was a lot of traffic from NYC to the suburbs where I lived and it was the latest memory of the event. I don't remember much beyond it was an entire state event and then they restored power.

I would like some feed back on this poem I wrote and how i should go ahead to continue where I left off. Is it good or is it simple or does it need some adjustment

What is Friendship?

Friendship is company
Friendship is love
Friendship is honesty
Friendship is worth a shoulder to lean on
Friendship is support that will never leave your side
When we need each other we will always be there
Friendship is growth till d end
Friends is admiring the flaws of my life
Friendship is the bond that we have for each other
Friendship is facing the battle of darkness together
Friendship is never betraying each other.

Historical event of 9/11 how it changed my life. RIP PRIMA...

The dark sky and the smell of burn wood was one of the parts I remembered most. That morning

was a regular warm September day. I headed to school in 104 street and 35th avenue to a catholic
school called Our Lady Of Sorrows, my class was on the second floor. We could see most of
Manhattan from class. School started at eight in the morning but by about nine fifteen in the morning
I had a second class which oddly enough was US history. My teacher name (May God Bless his
Soul), was Mr Flint. While siting in the front row in class I was able to see out the window because
on the back in my school windows were cover with math posters and paintings. The math teacher at
the time Miss Bradly told stop the class to speak with Mr Flint and I saw her point out the window,
right after I looked to my right and at that persist moment the second plane hit the tower, and I
couldn't really tell if it was real or not. Ms Bradly told us to leave class and go stand in the hall way
while the teacher covered up the windows with newspaper. (avoiding us from trying to see the Horrible view of the beginning of the end) and later ended up in the lunch room. After leaving class early about one hour after I remember the dark sky and the smell of burn wood and many people to walking outside looking out facing the cloud of smoke in midtown Manhattan. Soon After getting home with my brothers and sisters from school, the new channel was on with the images in a close up view with words on the bottom of the screen (terrorist attack). Later finding out that my cousin lost her life in the twin towers.

Nyah Blake

The historical event I remember is 9/11. I personally do not remember the day as I was only 1 year old at the time. Based on all of the stories I have heard from my family and school, I think it is one of the most important yet terrible things that has happened in my lifetime. My father worked construction at the time and his coworker happened to be fixing glass on a building when he saw the plane hit the tower. My dad said his coworker was the most emotional he's ever seen him. My mother worked in the city, so she was pretty terrified. She wasn't near the WTC at the time, but she saw everything unfold on TV much like the rest of the world did. Everybody first thought it was an accident when the first plane hit. It was suspicious because it was a clear day, so two of the tallest buildings in the city shouldn't be hard to see. When the second plane hit, most instantly knew that it was an attack. That has to be the scariest feeling ever, especially being in the city. 9/11 changed some mindsets, as Muslims were often being beaten and discriminated against because of the attacks.  Even to this day many Muslims are stereotyped due to the attacks. 9/11 also changed the way the airport works. Now, there is a somewhat invasive or "thorough" check in airports. 9/11 truly changed many lives that day, and even still continues to affect them today.

  1. How is this book affecting the way you ride public transportation?
Underground affects me by making me wonder if this will ever happen in New York City because the way people were on the train. While they noticed a package or bag wrapped up that can be a sign of sarin but nobody bothers to say anything. It's just terrifying how they all sat or stood there beside the sarin not, to once thought of the danger they're putting their selves in. In addition to this, I also think of it as if this was to occur in NYC would people react the same way ? . On the other hand,  thinking about this traumatize me to know I am sitting on bus or the train and didn't even  notice the sarin beside me. As dangerous as the sarin is it puts fear in my heart to know I'm in danger and did not know, not only my self but my mom, and the rest of the family I also fear for all of us.. However, I don't even want to imagine being in that situation as the Japanese people were. But it looks like the people in underground do not care about the environment, and the danger they might be in.They all knew something was not right but they decided to stay on the train and head to work or else where. This is just a disaster that they knew but are risking their own life's.

Shintaro from underground notice the sarin on the train but  stayed on it "From here I'm really coughing , so bad I can scarcely read the newpaper. "Only a little farther to Ginza," I tell myself,.  And he could not even keep is eye wide open. I don't understand how you notice a sarin but sat their and don't think of what might happen to you and the people around you it's just unbelievable, sad,and scary.
