9/11

I was 2 years old when 9/11 occurred. I was at my grandma's house while both my parents were working in the city. Even though I don’t have personal experience with 9/11 a majority of my family have experienced that day first hand and will remember it for the rest of their life. Both my parents worked in the city at the time and my mom’s building even had a clear view of the World Trade Center. My mom always tells me how she heard from one of her coworkers that the building was on fire and that they didn’t know what truly happened until the second plane hit the tower. She witnessed that plane bringing down the building with her own eyes. She said that everyone in her office was screaming not knowing what was going on. They all ran down the stairs of the building and made their way outside because her boss told them to get out of there and go home for the day. She made her way downstairs and out of the building and immediately called my dad. They would eventually meet up and had to walk from Manhattan to Long Island City where they parked the car. She said that walk was the most reflective walk she had ever had only thinking what if it was my building. She was so worried that she could’ve lost her life and not been able to see my twin sister and I ever again that she was almost at a running pace to get back to the car and rush to see us.
