Why do you think some of the interview subjects seem to look forward to the end of the world? What would the end of the world even look like?

I got a sense that the interview subjects didn't have much to go in their lives other than feeling lost in society. Perhaps that's the appeal of the world ending that you don't have to worry about banal life problems like finding a job, working at a job you dislike or saving money for the future.

I haven't really thought much about how the end of the world would end other than I will have a lot of regrets since X item in a book/tv show will never be completed and I'd be sad. It's odd that people die every day but even if I had an incurable illness I would continue my routine until the end since it's calming.
