The Underground/ Final Thoughts
I had to stop to think. Why would anyone want to join a cult like the Buddhism Aum? The people in Underground had great jobs, families, homes, ect. Maybe the members felt empty inside. Like they wanted to have a sense of belonging too. Some of them were sick and thought that hey can be healed and after that was done, they felt they owed their time back to Aum. To me it was ridiculous because some of them were treated like slaves. However, after being in Aum for so long, they were afraid to go back into the "secular world", as they called it. But so what?! Going back into the "real world" would of saved them mentally. They were brain washed and sometimes, that's all it takes.

I definitely agree with you. I feel as if these former Aum members were afraid to leave simply due to the fact that they had been apart of an awry act committed against the innocence. They must have been afraid or felt as if they had the obligation to stay in the cult for a good duration in time, or else they would've gotten killed for trying to withdraw themselves. As for them trying to go back into the real world, it may have not been easy for them to do such thing because once you're in a cult, you make a commitment, and if you are seen trying to break that commitment, your free will is not exactly so free any more because you give up all of your dignity and pride into something that is "more meaningful" than life (speaking from an Aum cult member's perspective).
