poem 1 and 2
In the poem, ´´MARCH OF THE HANGED MEN´´ by Monica Youn. She compares man to ants since ants eat and destroy the land. Christ walks on us since he created the world and died for our sins but sometimes we do not realize that we are like the ants that we destroy and we do not take care of the place that he gave us. In this poem Monica uses numbers for each stanza. I think that what makes a poem more interesting is the way in which the person expresses their feelings and the feelings of others. I also think that the person who writes a poem must have experience to know how to put themselves in the shoes of others since a poem is not only about feelings or friendship. There are different types of poems about religion, relationship, wars and more. The person who writes poems has to be creative in each poem. In the second poem, ´´ THE DIFFERENCE´´ by Ishion Hutchinson. I can assume that this poem is about rich people since the only thing they talk about is the oil and coffee trade.

I like that you mentioned that in "March of the Hanged Man" there is a connection between those that write and those imaginary people that are being created by poet. Yes, I too agree that poetry is definitely about feelings. There are poems that are meant to sway the person reading or to turn against someone who is being ostracized.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you on this line "Christ walks on us since he created the world and died for our sins but sometimes we do not realize that we are like the ants that we destroy and we do not take care of the place that he gave us". For instance, we are destroy the earth with pollution.
ReplyDeleteI'm w/ Ashley and Andrea: This is a great reading of Youn's "Hanged Men" poem. Nice work, Gabriela!
